For our patients' convenience the Doctors and Nurses provide appointments at various times during the day including the lunchtime period.
You may see any Doctor in the partnership that you wish. Although we offer appointments within 24 hours of request, it would be appreciated if as much notice as possible is given for routine appointments so that urgent requests may be given priority. If you wish to see the Doctor of your choice it may be necessary to wait for more than 24 hours. Please telephone on 01923 263381 for patients registered at our Kings Langley Surgery and 01442 833295 for patients registered at the Bovingdon Surgery.
If you request an urgent appointment our Receptionists will ask you the nature of the problem. This is to enable them to book you an appointment that best suits your needs which may be with a Doctor or our Nurse Practitioner.
Please be reassured that our Receptionists are fully trained to observe patient confidentiality and we respect it is your right to withhold this information but during busy times, we may need to have a Nurse or Doctor ring you back to decide on the urgency of your problem.
Appointments for Blood tests are only available up until 3.30pm and we ask that patients telephone personally for any test results between 2 pm and 3.30pm when the lines are less busy.
In order to meet the needs of our patients who find it difficult to attend the surgery during our standard hours of 8 am > 6.30pm, we have decided to offer additional extended hours for routine appointments.
These appointments will be pre-booked only and are not for emergencies or an acute problem that will still be seen as quickly as possible in normal hours - or will be dealt with by the Out of Hours Service after 6.30 and before 8am.
The pre-bookable appointments are intended for those patients who work, with problems that can wait to be seen in a convenient appointment or that require a review at regular intervals.
The surgery will not be open for during the times below for urgent, walk-in appointments or for the Receptionist to deal with routine enquiries.
With effect from Monday 26th May pre-bookable appointments will be available as follows:Monday 18.30 – 19.30 at Kings Langley
Tuesday 07.00 – 08.00 at Kings Langley
Tuesday 07.00 – 08.00 at Bovingdon
Tuesday 18.30 – 19.30 at Kings LangleyIn consideration of those patients that work outside the area, we respectively ask that patients who can attend in routine hours, do not book these appointments. Thank you.
If you require advice from a Doctor or our Nurse Practitioner please telephone and advise the Receptionist that you would like a telephone consultation. You may be put through at the time, given a time to call back or be called back when someone is available. Please ensure that you leave a number on which we can contact you.
Home visits take four times as much of the Doctor’s time as a surgery consultation so please ensure that the call is necessary before making the request. Please telephone before 10.30am in order that the Doctors may plan their visits to make the most efficient use of their time. If you need medical attention that cannot safely wait until the surgeries are open telephone 0845 605 6000. If you telephone the surgery emergency line you will be automatically transferred to Harmoni or you will hear a recorded message advising the number to call to contact a Doctor.
Alternatively if you just require advice you can telephone NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
Results of X-rays, blood tests and other investigations received from the hospitals have to be checked by the Doctor before results can be given to patients. Please telephone personally for your result between 2.00 and 3.00pm on 01923 261035 for Kings Langley and after 11.30am on 01442 833295 at Bovingdon.
