We are a non smoking practice.
We have three full time male doctors and one three quarters time female partner. We sometimes have other doctors working at the practice as locums.
There is disabled access, toilets and an Induction Loop System at Ewyas Harold and Peterchurch surgeries, and there are staff available to help you.
Ewyas Harold opening hours: Monday-Friday, 8.00am-6.00pm
Peterchurch opening hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8.00am-6.00pm, Tuesday and Thursday 8.00am-1.00pm
- July 2006: Automated arrivals
The practice has now installed “Automated Arrivals”, which we hope will reduce waiting time at the reception desk. The system enables patients to automatically announce their arrival for an appointment at the practice, using a touch screen interface and their finger print or date of birth.
When the patient announces their arrival a message is displayed to inform them:
• which doctor they are seeing
• the appointment time
• the approximate delay
• and asks them to take a seat in the waiting area.If you are worried about using the system the receptionist will help you.
- 27th November 2005: New practice booklet
Our new practice booklet is now available. The website has also been updated with new information. To view advice on the management of common ailments, click here.
1. We would be grateful if you could inform the surgery when you have a change of name, address or telephone number, this helps to keep our records up to date. We want to make sure any correspondence for you goes to the correct address.
2. Please try to arrive on time for your appointment.
3. If you are unable to keep an appointment please inform the surgery, this will mean another patient can be allocated your appointment.
4. Only one person per appointment.
Within our extensive rural area the doctors and staff strive to minimise the time you wait to see a doctor at the surgery. Please bear in mind however that an urgent visit and the occasional lengthy consultation can cause great disruptions to the scheduled appointments.
Give advice and consultations on achieving and maintaining better health.
Provide you with a consultation with a doctor within 24hrs, or on the day for emergencies.
Provide the option of a male and female doctor. You may also see any doctor of your choice, but there could be a wait to meet this request.
Always meet your request for a home visit. Naturally we prefer the efforts already made by our patients to come to the surgery instead, as this greatly reduces the doctors travelling time. We would ask that request for visits are made before 10.30am whenever possible.
All information held at the Practice about patients is confidential, whether held electronically or in hard copy.
All patients can be reassured that their personal information will not be disclosed without their permission (except in most exceptional circumstance when disclosure is required when somebody is at grave risk or serious harm)
Electronic transfer of any confidential information, once approved by the practice is transferred via the NHS net.
If patients would like to speak to some one in confidence, please ask the receptionist. The practice manager is always willing to see patients and give advice.
Standard of confidentiality apply to all health professional, administrative staff and ancillary staff – including receptionists, secretaries, practice manager, cleaners and maintenance staff who are bound by contracts of employment to maintain confidentiality. They must not reveal, to anybody outside the practice, personal information they learn in the course of their work, or due to their presence in the surgery, without the patient’s consent. Nor will they discuss with colleagues any aspect of the patient’s attendance at the surgery in a way that might allow identification of the patient unless to do so is necessary for the patient’s care.
If you have any suggestion on how we can improve the services we provide for you, we are always ready to listen.
Please place any suggestions in the box provided in the waiting room.
Written information about various illnesses and conditions are available on display in the waiting room and from the practcie nurses.
