You are here: Eating Disorder Therapy | Sunday 14th March 2010

Just because you can’t see the bridge doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I have crossed it and invite you to join me!

  • Anorexia
  • Bulimia
  • Compulsive/Binge eating
  • Non specific eating disorders and distress
  • Body Image issues

Whatever your current situation, I have found the basis of success in recovery is, ‘quite simply’, You having the ‘desire to recover’. You may still be fearful believing, at times, you can’t do it but you will have the desire to recover and change as a driving force.

About EDT

EDT Is based on my personal experience of recovery from anorexia, bulimia and compulsive eating disorders in 1989. I spent many years looking at my mindset and the process of my recovery and this became the foundation for my therapeutic approach.

My techniques are self developed and include CBT and counselling skills. I became qualified to use counselling skills in 1998 and have been supporting clients in recovery for over 10 years.

I work from my Garden Room on a one to one basis and clients tell me that the feeling of being ‘in’ nature is soothing and peaceful. I also work with clients on the telephone and with email support miles can be crossed with ease, if a face to face visit is not possible. I have worked with clients in Holland, South Africa, London and other areas of the UK.

I am fully insured and on the professional database of the Eating Disorders Association.

What to expect…

Our sessions last about an hour. On the first session I will take some notes and look at where you've been, where you are now and where you want to go. You have the opportunity to find out more about me, my work and are encouraged to ask any questions you may have. Sessions that follow are driven by your needs on the day. Time and frequency can be tailored to your individual requirements and please remember continuity is important to bring about change and weekly sessions are generally required for eating disorders

I see clients on a weekly basis, this is our commitment to your recovery.

The complexity of issues with eating disorders and disordered eating means that it is long term work. Sorry no quick fixes and no ‘diets’ here. Just a varied eating plan based on current BDA guidelines and good ‘wholesome’ food! The behaviour has taken many years to develop so it stands to reason it isn’t changed over night. My clients have usually explored many avenues before finding me and are looking for ‘positive lifelong change’!

As with any therapy that involves talking about emotions, feelings and experiences, you may feel tearful and the need to express how you are feeling. This is perfectly normal and encouraged. I always have tissues at the ready! As with any out pouring of emotion you can experience tiredness and emotional fatigue but again this is normal and I am on hand to support you through this.

I’m here when you are ready.
