Welcome to Much Birch Surgery, a rural dispensing practice in Herefordshire

We aim to provide our patients with an efficient, effective, quality medical service.

The Practice Partnership consists of four GPs and employs a team of doctors, nurses, dispensers, receptionists and administrators who work under the direction of the practice manager. There is access and parking for disabled patients.

These clinics are for all Much Birch Surgery patients who are over 65 years of age or are at risk from influenza (including patients with asthma and chronic breathing problems, diabetes,  heart or kidney disease or impaired immune systems, and those who are carers or who have previously had a flu jab).  your jab.
It is important to understand that the vaccination is your annual seasonal flu jab (not swine flu).

PATIENT INFORMATION - SWINE FLU (as at 23 July 2009)

1  Patients requiring advice on Swine Flu should:  Telephone NHS Direct 0845 4647

2  Patients who want more specific information on Swine Flu should:
Telephone 0800 151 3513 or e-mail  www.nhs.uk

3   Patients who think they have Swine Flu should: Telephone the National Flu Pandemic Service Number on 0800 1513 100 (callers will need to give details of symptoms and medical history and will need pen and paper to jot down instructions)

4  People diagnosed by the National Flu line will be given an authorisation number that a 'flu friend' (a neighbour, or relative who does not have swine flu) can use to pick up antiviral medicine from one of the local pharmacies (Boots in Ross 01989 562798 or Asda in Hereford 01432 346310).  The 'flu friend' will need to take personal ID as well as the patient's ID with them when they collect the antivirals from the local pharmacy.

5  The National Flu Line means that people will not need to consult their GP.

"NHS Herefordshire has stressed that people should not go to the accident and emergency unit or their GP surgery if they suspect they have swine flu, unless they are advised to do so by a healthcare professional".
