The HIV-Related Distress and Personal Growth Research is a national study that was conducted across the British Isles between October 2006 and March 2007.  A total of 100 gay men took part sharing the distress and personal growth they have experienced whilst living with HIV.

The study is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom to examine whether HIV experiences can be traumatic for some people and lead to posttraumatic stress symptoms. At the same time it also considered the positive growth that may come from dealing with adversity.
